Kazakhstan Temir Zholy has sharply reduced prices for wheat transportation to processors.

"As part of its socially responsible tariff policy, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) has decided to offer a 0.3% discount (a 70% discount) on mainline railway and carrier tariffs for domestic transportation of socially important food products, as well as wheat to flour mills and bakeries," KTZ reported.

The company explained that this measure applies to more than 30 types of socially important food products and is aimed at reducing transportation costs for domestic food producers and curbing rising food prices on the domestic market.

Shippers' rail transportation costs are expected to decrease by an average of 40%, which will serve as an additional tool for ensuring price stability and increasing the availability of rail transportation for domestic producers.
