Agricultural experimental stations and farms that are part of the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center (NASEC) are carrying out planned preparations for the 2026 sowing campaign. This season, sowing operations are scheduled to be carried out on an area of 110,581 hectares, which is 4.6% higher than last year.According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the crop structure for 2026 has been formed taking into account agro-climatic conditions and the requirements of scientifically based crop rotation. In particular, it предусматривает an increase in oilseed crop areas by 12.3% due to their high market value. In addition, the area under fodder crops will expand by 8.9% to support the development of the livestock sector.
The total arable land fund of agricultural organizations within NASEC amounts to 143,690 hectares. Within the scientifically based farming structure, 18,456 hectares will be allocated to fallow land. Maintaining fallow fields will help accumulate moisture, reduce weed pressure and support soil fertility.
Special attention is being paid to providing the sowing campaign with high-quality seeds. Currently, 236 varieties of agricultural crops are being cultivated, while the area of seed production fields reaches 40,875 hectares. Gross seed harvest is estimated at 64,853 tons.
Following processing, nearly 38 thousand tons of certified seeds have already been obtained. In 2026, this figure is expected to increase to 43,119 tons.
As part of preparations for the sowing campaign, a set of measures aimed at reducing phytosanitary risks is also planned.
Overall, the preparation system for the 2026 sowing campaign is aimed at improving the technological sustainability of agricultural production, developing domestic breeding and introducing scientifically based agricultural technologies. This is expected to ensure more efficient use of land resources, stabilize yields and improve the economic efficiency of agricultural production.
