U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order tightening trade measures against 60 countries, including Kazakhstan and Russia. Starting on July 24, 2026, imports of goods from these countries into the United States will be subject to tariffs of 10% and 12.5%, according to Kursiv, citing the White House.The new measures were introduced following an investigation conducted by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). According to the U.S. administration, the countries included on the list have failed to effectively enforce the ban on imports of goods produced using forced labor.
The list includes the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, China, the United Arab Emirates, as well as a number of countries in Latin America and Asia. Among the post-Soviet states, Kazakhstan and Russia are included.
Goods imported from Kazakhstan and Russia will be subject to a 12.5% tariff. At the same time, the executive order provides for several exemptions. The tariffs will not apply to raw materials whose import restrictions could lead to shortages, products that could cause broader economic disruptions, or certain goods that cannot be grown or manufactured in sufficient quantities in the United States.
As a result, a significant share of Kazakhstan's key exports to the U.S. market may remain exempt from the new tariffs.
For Argentina, Bangladesh, Mexico, the United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, and a number of other countries, the tariff rate has been set at 10%.
The new tariffs will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on July 24, 2026. They will replace the temporary global 10% tariff introduced by the Trump administration in February 2026 after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the trade tariffs imposed in April 2025.
In February 2026, President Trump also announced an increase in the global tariff to 15% for all countries. However, one day earlier, on February 20, following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision, the tariff had been set at 10%.
