The active phase of spring field work has begun in the Turkestan region. In the southern districts of the region, early vegetables and potatoes have already been planted on 7 thousand hectares out of the planned 18.2 thousand hectares.In 2026, the total sown area of agricultural crops in the region will increase by 8 thousand hectares and reach 919 thousand hectares. Of this area, 536 thousand hectares will be allocated to spring crops, 208 thousand hectares to winter crops, and 175 thousand hectares are occupied by perennial grasses, including alfalfa.
According to the head of the regional department of agriculture, Faizulla Baidullaev, the structure of sown areas is being adjusted this year. As part of diversifying agricultural production and using water resources more efficiently, the area under cotton has been increased by 17 thousand hectares to 162 thousand hectares. Corn planting has expanded by 15 thousand hectares to 55.2 thousand hectares, and safflower by 16 thousand hectares to 85.4 thousand hectares. At the same time, in order to reduce water consumption, rice fields have been reduced by 7 thousand hectares, and wheat planting has decreased by 25 thousand hectares to 216.3 thousand hectares.
Currently, plowing has been completed on 82% of the land, while soil washing has been carried out on 52%. Agricultural work continues according to plan.
This year the region plans to apply 203.5 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers. From the regional budget, 9.5 billion tenge has been allocated to subsidize 134 thousand tons of fertilizers.
Financing for spring field work is provided through the Agrarian Credit Corporation. At present, applications totaling 8.4 billion tenge have been approved, and 321 projects have already received financing amounting to 7.2 billion tenge. Applications for another 15 billion tenge are under consideration.
A total of 37.4 thousand units of agricultural machinery will be involved in the sowing campaign. Thanks to government support measures, farmers purchased 1,872 units of equipment in 2025, bringing the fleet renewal rate to 9.2%. In the current year, the purchase of another 2,029 units of machinery is planned.
Overall, systematic preparation for spring field work has been organized in the Turkestan region. It includes phased supply of fuel and lubricants, fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural machinery to agricultural producers.
